More Political Diversity in South Carolina

A republican and Tea Party favorite, Tim Scott, was chosen to replace outgoing South Carolina senator Jim DeMint. Scott is the first black senator elected from the South in more than 50 years.  Now the question is will this be celebrated as progress by historical black leadership organizations or ignored/slammed because Scott is on the GOP team. Either way, this is a good day for the BlackNEK nation as we aim to separate the idea of political leanings being connected to racial authenticity. From everything I’ve heard about him, he came up from a poor background to gain successful with his own real estate business, and then turned his leadership ability towards politics. Positive force in his community… learned skills and education to support himself and any future family…not crying victim…that’s what BlackNEKS are all about.
